New York Medicaid Choice expands to Tioga and Essex counties

New York, NY – New York Medicaid Choice, the state’s Medicaid managed care enrollment program expands to Tioga and Essex counties. Medicaid and Family Health Plus members in these two counties began receiving Medicaid Choice enrollment packets as of July 2012. Medicaid Choice outreach specialists are located at the local Social Services office to provide in-person managed care education and enrollment services. 

Tioga and Essex residents can also contact the toll-free Medicaid Choice customer assistance center with any questions they may have about managed care.  Residents may also enroll in a plan over the phone and seek assistance in resolving any concerns they may have with their managed care plan. To contact the customer assistance center, call 1-800-505-5678. TTY:  1-888-329-1541. Customer Service Representatives are available Monday – Friday, from 8:30 am – 8:00 pm and Saturday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. 

Since 1998, New York Medicaid Choice has provided managed care education, enrollment and customer assistance services in all languages.  Medicaid Choice sends a letter to program participants who are required to join a managed care plan.  The enrollment packet includes an informational brochure and a listing of local managed care plans. Enrollment materials are available in English, Spanish, Russian, and Chinese.  Program information is also available on CD.
